Lasertag includes competition and a hit-scoring system, so opinions about the game differ. As a supervised leisure activity, school trips focus above all on movement, coordination and respectful interaction.
Laser4 phasers use infrared technology. Hits are recorded electronically; no paintballs or other projectiles are involved. Safety, fun and enjoyment are the priority.
In suitable team game modes, children need to communicate, exchange ideas and make decisions together. It's a playful way to practise cooperation.
A coach explains the game and safety rules before the start. Following them shows consideration for others, no matter who scores the most points.
Sharing joy, dealing with disappointment and appreciating others: a supervised game creates opportunities to discuss feelings and conflicts fairly.
The class gets moving, finds its way around the arena and responds to changing situations – a refreshing change from sitting in a classroom.
Some pupils keep an overview, others communicate well or come up with creative ideas. Away from the classroom, the class can discover unexpected strengths.
A trip with a purpose
